Princess Ayanfe, kept in promise for the crown prince of the nearby Kingdom of Irefa, falls in love with a warrior far beneath her in wealth and status. His recent warring activities will not allow him to let their kingdom's alliance with Irefa fall through on the whim of some romantic ideology. But he is torn between a sense of duty to safeguard the kingdom and a desire to run away with her.
