Sọna Unfolding is where readers follow a story chapter by chapter. We set the chapter prices and we present every story to readers ourselves, so we choose the stories that join. This guide explains what we look for.
What Sọna Unfolding Is For
Unfolding is for fiction told in chapters: romance, family sagas, thrillers, fantasy, comics and more. Nonfiction, poetry, plays and picture books are published on Sọna as complete books.
Your Cover
Your cover is the first thing a reader sees on the shelf. On Unfolding it sits next to every other story, every week, so it has to hold its own.
Covers We Like
These covers were each made by a designer or illustrator. The title is easy to read at a small size, the picture suits the story, and the whole cover feels finished.

Do
- Use a cover designed by a person: an illustrator, a designer, a photographer, or you, if design is your skill.
- Put your title and author name on the front, exactly as they appear on your Sọna listing.
- Make the title easy to read when the cover is the size of a thumbnail.
- Use one strong picture or idea, not many small ones.
- Use photos and fonts you have the rights to use.
- Upload a flat front cover in portrait, 2:3, at least 1200 by 1800 pixels.
Do Not
- Do not use a cover made with an AI image tool. We do not accept these on Unfolding.
- Do not crowd the cover with taglines, badges or several fonts.
- Do not put text near the edges, where it gets cut off.
- Do not use a 3D book mockup, a screenshot or a flyer as your cover.
- Do not add “bestseller” or award badges you cannot show are true.
- Do not use low-resolution or stretched images.
Your Writing
Do
- Write the story yourself.
- Send the opening chapters in their best form. Readers decide on chapter 1.
- Format each chapter cleanly: clear paragraphs, dialogue on its own lines, no stray symbols.
- Plan your schedule so readers get chapters when you said they would.
- Choose the age rating that matches the most explicit scene in the story.
Do Not
- Do not send a story generated by AI. We do not accept these on Unfolding.
- Do not copy or rework someone else’s story.
- Do not send placeholder text, notes to yourself, or unfinished chapters.
What Happens After You Send Your Story
We look at your cover, title, blurb, age rating and opening chapters. Then one of three things happens:
- Approved. Your story goes on Sọna when your first chapter comes out.
- Sent Back. We tell you what to change. Make the change and send it again.
- Not Selected. Your story has not been selected for Sọna Unfolding. You can finish writing it and submit it for sale on Sọna as a complete book.
A Fresh Look
If your story was not selected and you have reworked it, with a new cover or rewritten chapters, you can ask once for a fresh look. Open your story in Sọna Publish and tell us what you changed. If we declined it for its cover, upload your new cover first. We look at it again and let you know.
A story gets one fresh look. If it is not selected a second time, that decision is final, and the story can still be published on Sọna as a complete book.
Publishing Steps
- Open Sọna Publish and start a new Unfolding story.
- Add your title, blurb, genres and age rating.
- Upload your cover and confirm it was designed by a person and not made with an AI image tool.
- Add your first chapters.
- Confirm you wrote the story and AI did not write or draw it.
- Send your story for review.
