Sọna is available on iOS, Android, and in your web browser. This guide walks you through creating your account, downloading the app, and getting your reading experience set up the way you want it.
Create Your Account
Go to readsona.com and click Library Login, or download the Sọna Reader app and sign up from there.
You can sign up using:
- Email and Password
- Sign in with Google
- Sign in with Apple
During signup you will be asked for your display name, date of birth, and country alongside your credentials. All three are required.
Once signed up, your account works across the app and the website: the same login, the same library, everywhere.
Verify your email. After signing up with your email, you will receive a verification email. Click the link to verify your address. You will need a verified email before you can purchase books.
Download the App
The Sọna Reader app is available on iOS and Android devices.
- iPhone and iPad: Download from the Apple App Store
- Android: Download from Google Play
Or visit readsona.com/download: if you are on a phone, it will automatically redirect you to the right store.
You can also read web-enabled books directly in your browser at readsona.com without downloading anything.
Set Up Your Profile
Your display name, date of birth, and country are all collected during signup. After signing up, visit Account Settings to update any of these and to add:
- Profile Photo: optional, but nice to have
Content Preferences
Books marked Adult 18+ behave differently depending on where you are. On the app, 18+ books are hidden from browse entirely until you enable the toggle. On the web, 18+ books appear in browse, but you will see a gate when you try to read, sample, or purchase one. If you are 18 or older and want full access:
- Go to Account > Content Preferences
- Toggle Show adult 18+ books on
This setting is age-locked: it can only be enabled if your date of birth confirms you are 18 or older.
Reading Goals
Sọna lets you set personal reading goals to keep yourself on track. Find and update these from your Library page by tapping the reading arc.
- Daily Reading Goal: How many minutes do you want to read each day
- Yearly Book Goal: How many books do you want to finish this year
Your progress is tracked automatically as you read, including your current streak, longest streak, and books completed. You can see all of this from your Library page.
Your Library vs. the Catalogue
Your Library is your personal space: books you have purchased, received as gifts, or been given as eARCs.
The Browse section is the full Sọna catalogue: all available books from every author on the platform. Find something you like, tap it to see the book page, and purchase it to add it to your library.
Web vs. App: What to Know
Both the app and the browser give you access to your library and most features. A few things work differently:
- Purchasing books is done on the Sọna website (not inside the app). This is because Apple and Google require apps to use their own payment systems, which would add fees that come out of what authors earn. To keep more money going to the authors, purchases happen on the web
- Reading works on both the app and the web for most books. Some books are set by the author to be app-only: these will prompt you to open the Sọna app if you try to read them on the browser
- Reading Progress syncs across web and app automatically: pick up exactly where you left off
Ready to find your next read? Start at readsona.com/browse or open the app and tap Browse.
