We updated how payouts work on Sọna in October 2026. This post sets out the changes in one place for authors and publishers. Every country's details are also on the Payouts and Fees page.
Monthly Payouts Are Now the Default
Payouts are processed on the first business day of each month. If you already chose a schedule, it stays as you set it.
You can change the schedule in Payout Settings at any time:
- Weekly. Payouts go out on Mondays.
- On request. You can request your available balance once every 7 days. A requested payout arrives within 5 business days.
Payout days skip weekends and Nigerian public holidays. When a payout day falls on a holiday, the payout moves to the next working day.
You Can Save Up Your Earnings
If you would rather receive fewer, larger payouts, you can skip scheduled payouts until your balance reaches a target you choose.
Any amount not yet paid carries forward and stays yours.
Payout Minimums by Country
Nigeria. Monthly payouts have no minimum. Your whole unpaid balance is paid on the first business day of each month. Weekly payouts start from ₦5,000.
Ghana. Mobile money payouts start from ₦5,000 and bank payouts from ₦10,000.
Kenya. Payouts to mobile money or a bank account start from ₦7,500.
South Africa. Bank payouts start from ₦15,000.
Ethiopia. Payouts start from ₦10,000. Authors and publishers in Ethiopia are paid by mobile money, through Telebirr or M-Pesa Ethiopia.
United Kingdom. Bank payouts start from ₦50,000. PayPal payouts start from ₦10,000.
United States and Canada. Bank payouts start from ₦30,000. PayPal payouts start from ₦10,000.
Outside Nigeria, the minimum applies on every schedule. We set these levels so that conversion and transfer charges stay a small share of what you receive. Those charges come out of the amount sent, and each payout record shows the rate and every charge.

What Has Not Changed
You still set one price in naira, and you still earn 80% of that price on every sale.
