For Readers: Your Own Files, In The App And In The Browser
Open the Sọna PDF Reader, choose a PDF, and start reading. No account, no upload. The file is rendered in your own browser.
It reads like a book rather than a document viewer. Page one sits alone, then two and three face each other, the way a printed book opens. You can use a two-page spread, a single page, or continuous scroll. There is a night page, fit and zoom, fullscreen, keyboard and swipe, contents pulled from the PDF's own outline, and right-to-left direction for the kinds of storytelling that need it.
If you sign in, you can keep a file rather than reopening it every time. Your browser sends it directly to the Sọna folder in your own Google Drive, and Sọna keeps only the library record and your reading position, enough to put you back where you stopped. On the iOS and Android apps you can import personal PDFs and EPUBs the same way, from your device or your cloud storage.
Books you buy from Sọna stay in your Sọna library. Personal files stay yours. An imported file never becomes a purchase or a catalogue listing.
For Authors And Publishers: Comics And Periodicals Can Be Published Now
This is the part that changes what can be sold on Sọna. At step one of the upload flow, alongside the ordinary book path, there is now a Comic Book and Periodical option. Choose it and the flow adapts. A comic asks for a series and an issue number. A periodical asks for a publication name and an issue number. You upload a source PDF, up to 50MB.
What readers receive is not that file. Sọna processes it into optimised page assets and delivers them to buyers through the authenticated reader, with the same entitlement, age and territory checks, watermarking, and screen-capture protection that already apply to EPUBs on Sọna. Your source PDF is not handed out.
The strict answer on what this reader is for: pages laid out by a person, meant to be seen as laid out. Comics, graphic novels, illustrated work, magazines. A novel that is only text belongs in EPUB, where readers can change the type size and it will reflow to fit their screen.
One More Thing: Reading In The Browser
Browser reading is back, and it covers more than it used to. Personal PDFs and personal EPUBs both open on the web now, so whichever format a file arrives in, you have somewhere to read it.
For books bought on Sọna, the choice belongs to the rights holder. Authors and publishers now pick per title between Sọna App And Browser and Sọna App Only, in the same upload and edit flow, and eARC campaigns carry the same choice. Where browser reading is allowed, the usual protections still apply, and there is still no raw file download.
