If your publishing house operates under more than one label (literary fiction under one name, commercial fiction under another), Sọna lets you run each imprint as its own distinct identity under your single publisher account.
What Is an Imprint on Sọna?
An imprint is a publishing label or sub-brand under your main publisher account. Cassava Republic and Masobe Books, for example, have different brands with different editorial identities and different reader audiences, even if they share ownership. Sọna supports this out of the box.
Each imprint has its own:
- Name: the label name that appears on book pages and the imprint's public profile
- Logo: uploaded separately from your main publisher profile photo
- Bio: a short description of the imprint's focus and editorial identity
- Genres: up to three from Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Drama & Plays
- Social Links: website, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, independent of your main account
- Public URL: its own profile page, e.g.
readsona.com/publisher/sona-books
How to Add an Imprint
- Go to Publish Dashboard > Pen Names (publishers see their imprints here)
- Click + Add Imprint
- Enter the imprint name
- Upload the imprint's logo
- Write a short bio describing what this imprint publishes
- Select up to three genres
- Add social links if relevant
- Click Save
The imprint is created immediately, and its public profile page goes live.
Assigning a Book to an Imprint
When uploading a book, you can select which imprint to publish it under. The imprint name appears on the book page alongside the author credit. Readers browsing the imprint's profile page see only the books published under that label.
If you do not assign a book to a specific imprint, it appears under your main publisher profile.
Editing or Removing an Imprint
Go to Publish Dashboard > Pen Names, find the imprint, and click edit. All fields can be updated at any time. Removing an imprint does not affect books already published under it. Those books keep the imprint credit as-is.
Things to Know
Each imprint has its own public page. Readers can browse by imprint and follow a label they trust, the same way they follow an author. A well-maintained imprint profile with a clear bio and consistent genre focus helps readers find your catalogue. You can also view a full imprint report, including total earnings, sales count, live titles, and recent sales, by clicking any imprint card on your dashboard or going to Publish Dashboard > Earnings and selecting the imprint from the filter.
Logos are independent. Your main publisher profile photo and each imprint's logo are separate. Upload the right logo for each imprint without affecting your main profile.
Every imprint URL is unique. Sọna checks that the public URL for a new imprint is not already taken by any author, pen name, or other imprint on the platform.
Earnings are filterable by imprint. All sales flow into the same Earnings dashboard under your publisher account, but if you have more than one imprint, a dropdown appears on the Earnings page that lets you isolate sales, revenue, and transaction history for any individual imprint. Your dashboard home also shows a per-imprint summary card for each label, giving you a quick snapshot of earnings, sales, live titles, and titles under review without leaving the dashboard.
Manage your imprints at Publish Dashboard > Pen Names.
